Light, Time and Shadows: The Treehouse

Graphite drawing of interpretation of model

An Abstraction of Life

Originally, the concept behind my model was the idea of a ‘treehouse’, climbing higher and higher away from the busy- ness and stress of life and expectations. It is meant to represent a safe space where I could obtain peace and clarity in my thoughts. I drew inspiration for this model using images of bird nests and abstract treehouses. Then through photography I was able to capture these concepts. By taking photographs of our models, we are able to gain perspective about how things will look from different angles, what kind of shadows and forms are produced, and demonstrate how space is created. Using these images, we are able to illustrate what we are thinking or feeling and stimulate new design ideas.
